Meet Your Sage – The Wise Guide Within

Welcome back! It's the 3rd instalment of our introduction to Positive Intelligence®️!

Over the past couple of days, we've met the Saboteurs—the inner voices that can sometimes derail your focus, drain your energy, and hold you back from reaching your full potential. But today, we’re shifting our attention to a far more powerful ally: your Sage.

While the Saboteurs thrive on negativity, stress, and self-doubt, the Sage is the part of you that is calm, clear-headed, and compassionate. It’s your inner wisdom, the voice that guides you towards your best self, no matter the challenges you face. Whether you’re navigating a high-pressure game, leading a team, or making critical business decisions, your Sage is there to help you respond from a place of strength and positivity.

What Is the Sage?

Think of the Sage as your internal coach, but one who operates with wisdom and empathy rather than criticism and fear. Where the Saboteurs react to stress and setbacks with anxiety or anger, the Sage approaches these same situations with curiosity, creativity, and a deep sense of purpose. It’s not about ignoring the challenges; it’s about facing them with a mindset that opens up possibilities rather than shutting them down.

The Sage doesn’t just pop up when everything is going well. It’s most powerful during adversity, helping you to see the bigger picture, find meaning in tough situations, and turn challenges into opportunities. When you’re connected with your Sage, you’re able to stay resilient and focused, making decisions that align with your values and long-term goals.

The Five Powers of the Sage

Your Sage operates through five distinct powers, each designed to counteract the negative influence of the Saboteurs. Here’s a brief overview of each:

  1. Empathy – This is the ability to understand and connect with yourself and others on a deep level. It starts with self-compassion, which then extends outwards, helping you build strong, supportive relationships.

  2. Curiosity – The Sage approaches life with a sense of wonder, always asking, “What can I learn from this?” This mindset turns challenges into learning opportunities, fostering growth and innovation.

  3. Creativity – When faced with obstacles, the Sage doesn’t see them as roadblocks but as chances to think outside the box. Creativity allows you to find new solutions and approaches, even in the toughest situations.

  4. Navigation – The Sage helps you steer through life’s complexities with clarity and purpose. It’s about making decisions that are aligned with your core values and long-term vision, rather than reacting impulsively to short-term pressures.

  5. Activation – This is the power to take decisive action, guided by your inner wisdom. The Sage doesn’t just think and reflect—it moves forward with confidence, turning ideas into reality.

How to Strengthen Your Sage

Just like building physical strength, cultivating your Sage requires regular practice. This could involve mindfulness exercises, reflective journaling, or simply taking a moment to pause and breathe before reacting to a stressful situation. The more you practise, the more naturally you’ll be able to access your Sage in your daily life.

And here’s the thing—your Sage isn’t about being perfect or always getting it right. It’s about making choices that are in tune with who you truly are, and that help you live a life of purpose, fulfilment, and joy.
